Both papers and poster presentations are welcome, a special poster display area will be available. Abstracts of the papers and posters should be no longer than 500 words and reach us not later than 15 November 2001. Notification of acceptance of papers and posters will be sent out to authors by 15 December 2001. Persons presenting a paper or poster must register by no later than 28 March 2002 in order to be assured of inclusion in the final proceedings.
FORMAT OF THE SEMINAR
The seminar will start with a keynote session in which three speakers will elaborate on the main themes of the seminar; Governance and links to the use of GIS in the context of urban development and rural development. This will be followed by series of sessions in which papers and discussion will focus around practical applications of GIS by the Public Sector, the Private Sector and Civil Society. Each session ends with a discussion and the seminar will finish with a panel discussion and a closing address. On Friday an opportunity will be provided for participants wishing to discuss specific issues or opportunities for cooperation to form informal groups. Throughout the seminar posters will be displayed in an adjoining room for discussion during tea and lunch breaks. An exhibition room will be equipped to offer hardware- and software companies, technical engineering companies, practitioners and GIS-researchers the possibility to present relevant hardware, programs, and GIS-applications.
